ROSE MARIE is a representational artist who lives in rural Indiana where she raises Morgan Horses. She has always been attracted to their expressive character and beauty spending many hours capturing them in pencil. Her enthusiasm for rendering her subjects was furthered during her college experiences. While studying at Murry State University, she was introduced to charcoal medium and found the medium delightul and fitting for her desire to express beauty and emotion. Exploring the techniques of the Old Masters was exciting. She has always been intrigued by Leonardo Da Vinci's horses, draperies, and hand studies. She also encountered the drawing " Battle of the Standard", by artist Peter Paul Rubens. This drawing and other similar artists' works often exhibit horses' exotic facial expression and freshness noted insome of her pieces. She now specializes in animal drawings using a white Conte' a Paris Drawing Pencil on black UART Premium Sanded Pastel Paper. Horses and other animals in her surroundings, connect her life with art. Their character, personalities, idiosyncrasies, and drama are now studied and captured through the techniques particular to charcoal. Hence, charcoal is unique to other mediums of art. She currently offers fine art work of God's beloved creatures for those who love them.
